You can’t really expect the new 2024 Toyota Prius to come with significant and drastic changes, considering that a full redesigned project has taken place in 2023. Through the 2023 transformation, the Prius has undergone dramatic updates, had improved stylish look, experienced better performance, enjoyed better fuel economy, and had a wider array of high tech features. Because of those transformations, the 2024 model is left with only the minor changes, so don’t really expect an overly dramatic improvement for the model.
The Exterior Design
You have to admit that the current Prius’ design is more stylish than the previous gen. The overall curves, lines, and shapes are just perfect as each of them is complimenting each other. All of these are happening in the 2023, so don’t be hopeful of new dramatic transformation anymore.
It’s safe to say that the new Prius comes with somewhat sweeping exterior which helps with better air circulation. The car can flip through air quite efficienctly and effortlessly. The front end comes with rounded look that creates dramatic (C-shaped) headlights leading to the slim grille directly. And then, you can find big air intake on the front bumper.
On the side, you can find a wedge shape for Prius profile along with quite significant body lines located on the side sills and the doors. On the rear area, you should be able to find big windshields leading to the rear spoiler directly, along with the upright rear end and also horizontal light bar.
The Interior Cabin
As there is significant change happening on the outside, the same can be expected for the interior ambiance. It’s safe to say that the 2024 Toyota Prius cabin will remain the same as the current existing model. You can still find (tiered) dashboard along with the one-of-a-kind instrument cluster style sitting on top side of the dashboard, right inside the V design. It would be directly located behind the car’s steering wheel, which would be a first approach taken by Prius. The big central touchscreen would be positioned on the top side of the dashboard. It would sit right above the HVAC system’s physical controls.
There would be different features, depending on the trim levels. The base trim should be coming with a digital instrument cluster (7.0 inch), an infotainment touchscreen (8.0 inch), Bluetooth, WiFi hotspot, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, 6 USB ports, 6 audio speakers, and others. You can imagine (and expect) more features for the higher trim levels.
Powertrain and Performance
Toyota is offering 2 powertrains, which is a carryover from the previous model. There would be a four cylinder unit with 2.0 liter capacity paired up with an electric motor, able to generate 194 hp and comes together with the front wheel driving system. The second one would use the same powertrain, but with an extra electric motor (so there would be two electric motors) located on the rear wheels, generating 196 hp as a total. According to Toyota, Prius is able to deliver 57 mpg combined.
Release Date and Price
Prius doesn’t exactly have many rivals, but the main competitors are definitely Hyundai Elantra hybrid, Toyota Corolla hybrid, Hyundai Sonata hybrid, Honda Accord hybrid, and Toyota Camry hybrid. There hasn’t been any information about when the new Prius is going to launch. But based on the 2023 model’s release, the 2024 should be available at dealerships in the early 2024. The price should remain the same (or at least similar) to the current model. It starts from around $28,500 to around $37,000. We should know more about 2024 Toyota Prius once more information is revealed.
