Maserati is preparing plans for their upcoming production, and it includes 2024 Maserati Quattroporte. Sadly, the next development stage would include some variants being axed, while some variants being kept but undergoing changes. Although the company admits that it’s getting difficult to maintain their sedan line, they are still adamant with producing the Quattroporte. But then again, they need to come up with different strategy and plan, and they need to be serious about their future development.
The Updated Plan
There have been several reasons why Maserati would have to carefully think (and plan) of their upcoming development. First of all, electrification is taking the world by a storm and it’s quite difficult to develop several electrification plans for different variants, especially the ones that aren’t really promising or having high sales figures.
Second, the sedan category is struggling. Maserati, as well as other auto manufacturers, are struggling for the sedan because the auto world has been dominated by SUVs and crossovers. It’s unfortunate that Maserati still has several sedan variants, which lead to them having to let go some variants and keep the others.
This is the main reason why the Ghibli would be axed off in 2024, while the Quattroporte will remain. However, Maserati plans on developing the Quattroporte in a completely different size and dimension. In case you don’t know it, Ghibli is the smaller sedan when compared to the Quattroporte. With Ghibli being out of the production, Quattroporte steps up to the platform, but the size would be shrunk, making it similar to the Ghibli. Maserati believes that it would be the most logical and reasonable option to keep the Quattroporte remains attractive and appealing.
The Long Term Plan
The company is planning on a long-term scheme and strategy where they need to be ‘efficient’ when it comes to producing their future lines. They are planning on offering electrified versions for Levante and Quattroporte, but they still haven’t decided whether they are going to focus on electric only or they will include a traditional unit, such as a six cylinder unit along the way.
Moreover, with the company’s plan to remove the V8 unit, they have come to decide that Quattroporte and Ghibli would be merged into one. The 2024 Maserati Quattroporte will keep the name, but the size would be reduced to Ghibli’s dimension. For them, it’s the logical solution.
Powertrain and Performance
Maserati has a plan to electrify all of its lineups before the decade ends. They even want to offer pure electric rides by 2025. For the upcoming year, they have made the electrified version of the midsize SUV Grecale along with GranCabrio convertible and GranTurismo coupe. They also offer electric version of MC20 super ride, with electrified Levante and Quattroporte coming in 2025. For the upcoming production, all electric Maserati would be using Folgore badge, which means ‘lightning’ in Italian.
Q and A
Q: Has it been confirmed that there won’t be 2024 Ghibli?
A: It’s confirmed that the 2024 Ghibli would be the LAST one produced before Maserati stop making one.
Q: Has it been clear when the Quattroporte would be entering production stage?
A: Not yet because they are still figuring out their next planning with their lineups.
With so much things going on, it’s quite understandable if Maserati may not be ready to reveal its plan for now. Let’s wait for their upcoming official announcement about 2024 Maserati Quattroporte, shall we?
