The company is said to develop the future 2024 Chrysler 300, which is actually coming as the 2026 model. The company is going through a detailed planning to go on electric path by 2028. Considering that they have only 2 variants up this far (Pacifica minivan and 300 sedan), they are seriously considering making a change. The 300 sedan would be a part of the electrification plan.
The Upcoming Plan
Chrysler is said to launch its ever electric ride in 2025 (set for 2026 model) which is likely coming as a midsize SUV. Some, however, say that it’s possible that the upcoming 2024 Chrysler 300 come as a ‘tall sedan’. The vehicle is basically inspired by the concept car Airflow, which was unveiled earlier at the beginning of 2022.
The current 300 is believed to be outdated and worn, so a new type electric successor is due. And because of the company’s electrification plan, it’s only normal to produce the future 300 as this electric vehicle with all the new technologies. If everything goes as planned, the new type of 300 would be able to cover 500 miles of distance, thanks to its STLA Large platform from Stellantis.
The STLA Large is one of the 4 modular platforms (specialized for EVs) developed by Stellantis. According to sources, the car would be connected and be related to Dodge EV production which should due in 2024. Dodge themselves have confirmed their plans to launch a 2024 EV and they are about to preview the concept later, before the year ends.
Stellantis and the Investor Presentation
The parent company Stellantis had this kind of presentation in 2021. While at it, they stated that their STLA Large platform has been designed especially for vehicles measuring from around 186 inches (in length). The platform is able to operate on 800V technology, making it possible for high speed charging. It can also support 118 kWh. The electric motors themselves should be able to generate outputs between 201 and 442 hp, are especially created to accommodate the platform because it also fits multiple units.
However, the interesting thing during the presentation is about the 300’s future design. The presentation showed a big (fastback) sedan with styling elements inspired from the Airflow. According to Christine Feuell, the CEO, the company will keep on going to operate within big sedan category. It should fit with the company’s future plan.
Rumor has it that the brand Chrysler may be axed because it only has two main variants of Pacifica and 300. But Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO made an announcement that they make an investment commitment lasting for 10 years. so, there is still hope for the brand.
