Rumor has it that the 2024 Cadillac XT6 would get a mid cycle refresh to upgrade its appearance and performance. Considering that the vehicle hasn’t got any upgrade since the 2019 debut, it seems logical – and also needed. In case you don’t know it, the XT6 is basically the newest and the latest addition to the Caddy lineups. It was released in 2019 as the 2020 model. So, what does Caddy has in mind concerning the updates?
The Updated Plan
The XT6 is about to enter the fifth manufacturing year (for this current gen) with the 2024 model. Caddy want to design and make it their luxury brand representation, elevating the amenities and offerings, like other competitors.
About XT6
This Crossover Touring 6 is designed as an upscale midsize crossover SUV having three row seating layout. This line is set sandwiched between XT5 and the big Escalade SUV. The XT6 uses similar wheelbase that is also implemented by Chevrolet Blazer, GMC Acadia, and XT5, designed especially for Chinese market. Debuted at North American International Motor Show in 2019, the crossover was available at dealerships within months afterwards. It was then also offered for Japanese and Russian market.
Powertrain and Performance
Even with the upgrades, the refresh work for 2024 Cadillac XT6 would likely be minor – not grandeur or extravagant. It also means that there would be minimal adjustments to be expected for the ride. Cadillac would remove 3 exterior colors, so they can add up 3 new colors.
In terms of power, the XT6 would still be using their 2 already existing options: the four cylinder turbocharged unit with 2.0 liter capacity (which would be offered as the base trim level), able to churn 235 hp and 258 Nm of torque, and the V6 naturally aspired unit with 3.6 liter capacity (which is more powerful), generating 310 hp and 271 Nm of torque.
Both of them would be offered with auto 9 speed transmission, with either front wheel or all wheel driving system. It’s most likely that the XT6 would be constructed with C1 platform.
Interior Cabin
The crossover is able to accommodate 7 to 8 people, with the third row having the 3-seat layout. Despite the plush vibe and comfortable seating, the space is rather limited when compared to other brands, like Audi Q7 or Beemer 5. But it’s still roomy with tons of features and gadgets.
Manufacturing Timing
If nothing delays the manufacturing plan, it’s likely that the XT6 would start producing in June 2023, followed by the launch date not long from it. The manufacturing process will take place at the Spring Hill plant, in Tennessee. But Caddy would also utilize their Shanghai plant under the SAIC-GM pact.
Q and A
Q: With whom does XT6 have to compete against?
A: The SUV has to face rivalry against Lincoln Aviator and Volvo XC90.
Q: Is there is going to be a price increase with the new XT6?
A: Although the company hasn’t said anything about it, it’s likely so. If the upgrades are true, then be ready to deal with price escalation which would cost you more. We should know more about 2024 Cadillac XT6 when more info is available.
