2024 BMW X5: What Improvements to Expect from the Ride?

The 2024 BMW X5 would be coming with updated and refreshed appearance, possibly also followed by performance. It has been confirmed by some photos that have leaked online, showing off the vehicle’s overall look ahead of its launch time. Based on those photos, the SUV has undergone significant changes on the exterior. The company is expected to unveil their new Beemer in the following weeks, but the leaked images have changed it all and spoil the surprise.

The Leaked Photos

From the leaked photos, you can see that the exterior appearance of the X5 gets some significant influence from the already existing lineup, especially from their SUV’s category. Based on those uploaded images that are posted in the Instagram, the SUV is coming with the company’s LCI (Life Cycle Impulse), which refers to the mid life facelift.

The Exterior Language Design

You can see a more square shape of the front bumper (the lower portion part) when compared to the existing design of the SUV. The current model launched back then in 2019, so it’s due time for a refreshment. You can also see some design elements from the X3, X1, and even X7 within the X5. Such a thing covers matte silver trim (on the lower side of the radiator inlet) or the vertical brake ducts pair (located on the front bumper’s outer edges).

You should also be able to see some changes on the headlights, where the new (daytime) running light is located. The red reflectors pair would be moved down, located to the lower rear bumper’s top edge. It would incorporate the similar (matte) silver trim and also the exhaust outlets.

The Interior Cabin

Although it’s quite unfortunate that the leaked images of the 2024 BMW X5 don’t reveal anything about the updated interior, many auto enthusiasts are pretty sure that the interior cabin would get the same transformation treatment.

Many auto enthusiasts predict that the new X5 would likely use the new iDrive 8, which is the (in car) computer system having twin screen dash. The 3 Series has just got a facelift, and this kind of tech has been implemented there. It’s kind of exciting to see a big 14.9 inch screen (for infotainment) is paired up with the 12.3 inch display (for digital instrument), and both would be included in the (integrated) curved panel. There is always a possibility for tech and features updates, but since details are still scarce, we’d better wait.

Powertrain and Performance

If everything goes as planned, the 2024 model would be coming in rear wheel driving system (the sDrive) and also the all wheel driving system (the xDrive). For the US, there would be 3 different powertrain. The standard one would be the xDrive40i with six cylinder inline turbocharged unit that can generate 375 hp and 398 Nm of torque.

Another option would be the hybrid system with xDrive45e with 480 hp, thanks to the electric motor and six cylinder turbocharged unit. And the last one would be the M60i with 530 hp. This one will have a better fuel economy system because of the 48V (mild) hybrid powertrain that is paired together with the S68 unit.

Price and Release Date

According to plans, the debut will start in February 2023. Sales timing hasn’t been revealed yet, but considering that manufacturing process starts in April, we are hopeful that the new X5 would be ready at dealerships around the middle time of the year. The price range hasn’t been revealed either just yet, but it’s predicted (and estimated) that the starting price may begin from around $70,000. To be certain of the 2024 BMW X5, we should wait for official updates and release.
