Beemer has already set their plan in motion regarding the 2024 BMW i8 M development. A lot of auto enthusiasts claim that the current i8 isn’t exactly satisfying or living up to the initial intentions of the company, but it doesn’t put off their plans. They still haven’t given up hope in creating the promising dream vehicle with all the promising performance. And they are putting up a lot of hope for the 2024 model.
The Updated Plan
BMW wants to make a significant improvement over their current vehicle. One of the evidences would be the Vision M Next concept showcased back then in the mid if 2019. They want to create a vehicle with longer (all) electric driving range, a massive boost of power, more capable and reliable chassis, and also updated style. With all of these improvements, the future i8 would be different from the current model. After all, the future model would replace the already existing i8.
The upcoming 2024 BMW i8 M would be created as the next hybrid sports ride, and it would be designed as an all new model. Hopefully, more information and updates would be revealed soon as the 2024 model production is set for production.
Trims and Prices
For now, the planned trims would offer 2 models only: the coupe (with starting price of $160,000) and the roadster (priced at $180,000). Again, details are still scarce and limited about the available features, technologies, and specifications.
Powertrain and Performance
It’s believed that the upcoming i8 M would be coming as a hybrid power. The arrangement would be similar to the current model. It also means that there would be an electric motor powering the front wheels with mid-mounted gas engine (and also an electric motor) powering the rear wheels. Together with the three cylinder turbocharged gas unit with 1.5 liter capacity, there would be a four cylinder turbocharged powertrain. The total output (with electric and gas combined) would be 591 hp. When compared to today’s i8 powertrain delivering 369 hp. This improved power of the new i8 would be a worthy rival for Polestar 1, Lexus LC500h, and also Acura NSX.
Battery and Charging
Despite the sophisticated look, the current i8 has unimpressive driving range – only 18 miles on pure electric. That’s why Beemer wants to boost it up to at least 62 miles for the improved performance. It means that they may either have extra space for larger unit or they are able to tweak the current powertrain to accommodate more power.
Q and A
Q: Is the upcoming i8 M stylish and good looking?
A: Yes, and it’s somewhat bigger than what most people think
Q: Is there any further information about the engine?
A: No as Beemer keeps it very secret
Q: How is it compared to Tesla Model S?
A: You can’t really compare it because they are different. Model S is the electrified wagon E-class while the Beemer is less complicated or complex. We should know more about 2024 BMW i8 M once more information is available.
