The 2024 Audi A6 e-tron has been seriously going through significant testing stage on Alpine roads. Despite the many spy shots being available on the net, it’s hard to tell what the future electric sedan would look like because of the heavy (and also frustrating) camo. Given the company’s efforts to hide many details and shapes, let’s just hope for the best outcome for this gorgeous and futuristic ride.
The Upcoming EV
Audi has revealed their A6 e-tron concept a few times ago, and it looks promising. It seems that the prototype has several similarities to the concept ride, although the overall details are still scarce. The concept displayed an impressive four door style, and it seems that the testing prototype shows a very solid resemblance to the concept. Of course, there won’t be 100% similarity to the concept as the split headlights seem to be bigger. The corner inlets aren’t as prominent as shown on the concept. And the center trapezoidal opening (within the lower fascia) looks bigger.
From the testing stage, it seems that the development engineers are torturing the brakes. The e-tron had the emergency lights continuously on and the vehicle was shown going down the mountain slowly. The brakes squeal – or that what the spy photographer said.
Design and Style
It’s a good thing that the upcoming A6 e-tron is similar to the concept. With sleek roofline, arching shape, and short rear deck, it definitely looks gorgeous. Although the details are difficult to see, it’s obvious that the overall design has delicate sculpture.
Platform and Construction
This 2024 Audi A6 e-tron seems to be constructed on PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. The powertrain for the production isn’t known. But the concept showed that the vehicle would be running on one electric motor that sends the power to every axle, providing a total 470 hp for the output and 590 Nm of torque. According to Audi, this vehicle should be able to reach 62 mph (or around 100 kilometers an hour) within 4.0 seconds.
There is no information about the production spec battery either. The concept showed 199 kW pack of battery, which is claimed to be able to deliver 435 miles (or around 700 kilometers) during WLTP test. The vehicle also supports fast charging system to 270 kW. It’s quite impressive because 10 minutes of charge alone can enable you to cover 186 miles (or 300 kilometers) of range.
Q and A
Q: Will the A6 e-tron be released together with the regular A6?
A: It seems so. But the details production of both vehicles are unknown up to now, so we need to wait.
Q: Is there any information about the price range?
A: There is no further detail or information about it.
Q: When will the e-tron debut?
A: If nothing hinders the production, it would be available in 2023 as the 2024 model. Rumor has it that Audi is going to make a wagon version too, but it may not be offered for the North American market. Hopefully, Audi will soon reveal more updates about their 2024 Audi A6, including the e-tron.
