2025 Toyota 4Runner Release Date, Price, and Specs

Everyone is excited for the 2025 Toyota 4Runner which is said to be better than the current model. However, it seems that some of Toyota’s productions have to be delayed, including the 4Runner and the Tacoma. Those two models have been confirmed to be delayed in production (and also delivery), which means that we may likely not going to have the 2024 model, but skipping it to the 2025 model instead. If you are one of those enthusiasts that have been waiting eagerly for the 4Runner, it’s quite unfortunate that you may have to wait longer.

The Possible Redesigned Updates

Because of the production delay, it seems that the new gen will not be available soon at dealerships. There have been some flying rumors suggesting that the 4Runner would get some significant redesign works, making it a valid 2025 model instead of the 2024 model.

According to the timeline, we should be expecting the 4Runner to be available from 2023 as the 2024 model. However, because of the delay and some significant challenges during production, it’s most likely that the 4Runner would be coming in 2024 instead as the 2025 model. There is even a possibility that it would be available for the early 2025 as the 2025 model.

Toyota has tons of things to do on their plate, especially with Grand Highlander, Prius, and Land Cruiser on the production stage. Not to mention that they may focus on global production instead of focusing on North American market only. If Toyota is true preparing Land Cruiser Prado launch, it’s possible that 4Runner is pushed back. And there is still the Tacoma, which experiences the same delay. If the Tacoma is being delayed, then it’s quite positive that 4Runner is also delaTacomayed because they are somewhat related and sharing platforms.

Powertrain and Performance

What about the power of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner? When it comes to new vehicle, we are always talking about the power and speed, because those two things matter. Well, the current 4Runner is running on V6 unit with 4.0 liter capacity that delivers 270 hp and 278 Nm of torque. It is paired up with auto five speed transmission. But this arrangement is considered outdated and worn, and many auto enthusiasts believe that Toyota should ditch it and replace it with something better.

Some sources state that it’s likely that the new 4Runner would be running on inline four turbocharged unit with 2.4 liter capacity, which is inspired from Lexus NX350. This layout is able to generate 275 hp and 317 Nm of torque. But there is still the 4Runner Hybrid, which is designed to make the 4Runner partially electric. It may be coming with Max Hybrid unit with 2.4 liter capacity that delivers 340 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which sounds exciting and promising. This kind of setup has been used currently for Toyota Crown.

Price and Release Date

It’s still too early to talk about the updates happening to Toyota 4Runner because there hasn’t been any official confirmation or reveal of when it will launch or whether the delay is truly happening. Not to mention that there would be the electric version of the 4Runner, which likely arrives later. It may be designed as the seventh gen or as the mid cycle refreshed model. The 4Runner may also share similar engine powertrain with the new Tacoma, but we are still in the dark.
