2025 Ford F150 Lightning Second Gen in the Process

If everything goes as planned, and all sets according to the timeline, the 2025 Ford F150 would be the second gen of the Lightning that should be ready for the 2025’s debut although late within the year. As the second gen, you can expect everything to be better. The platform would be newer as the new model will no longer be constructed with the old (ICE) platform. The second gen’s platform would be made better although inspired from the first gen. You can expect better construction, higher (quality)  material, and others.

The Possible Redesigned Project

As it was mentioned before, the new gen will no longer be using the old (and worn) ICE platform. The new Lightning would be constructed on the TE1 platform to support the battery construction. The solid foundation will still be using the one laid by the first gen, but with improved qualities and factors (better battery pack and finer materials), you can expect improved performance and overall quality for the popular pickup truck.

Although the new gen of the Lightning line is clear, but what’s exclusive for the 2025 Ford F150 Lightning? Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, once stated that the company’s plan for the new electric truck include a full size platform, which is going to be entirely different from the F-150 Lightning. It’s just too bad that it’s been unclear until now what would make the difference and how the second gen model would be far more promising than the current model.

Design and Style

The current Lightning still incorporate the standard rugged look of an ICE model, with all electric performance. In terms of design, the model has grille-less appearance with R-shape lights and slim air intakes. Hopefully, Ford can do better with the second gen, able to make it a bit different from the gas powered version, especially with the unique exterior accents and designs.

For the interior cabin, the current Lightning has a sophisticated cabin and tech-packed vibe. You can find WiFi hotspot, touchscreen display and also digital instrument cluster (both are 12 inches), Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and also Alexa.

It’s possible that the second gen Lightning would be coming with bigger screen, up to 15 inches. Expect more outlets (120V types), a wireless charging pad, and also HD Radio for the new truck. Hopefully, there would be new arrays of better safety features that will make the trip convenient and comfortable.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2025 Lightning would definitely get some serious upgrades in mechanical sector. The current Lightning model is running on all wheel driving system and two electric motors, having a 98 kWh battery pack as the standard and bigger 131 kWh (extended) pack is offered as the extra option. Even with the standard pack, the Lighting is able to generate 452 hp with 240 miles of coverage, while extra pack is able to deliver 580 hp with 320 miles of coverage. There is no information about the second gen Lightning, but naturally, we expect it to be better than the first gen.

Release Date and Price

According to the timeline, the 2025 Lightning should start the production in August 2025. It’s been unclear whether it may happen earlier or even later. There is no information about the price range either, but many auto enthusiasts have predicted that it will start from around $56,000 and it may reach $100,000 as the most expensive price range.

The F-150 Lightning would be going on rivalry with Chevy Silverado EV, Lordstown Endurance, GMC Sierra EV, and Rivian R1T, which means that Ford needs to be serious in their game. They will have to make the 2025 Ford F150 Lightning as promising as possible to provide solid stance against tough competition against other promising lines.
