What to expect from the upcoming 2024 Subaru Impreza? Although Subaru might be somewhat synonymous with SUVs, the company has also focused on developing other types. They have made the rally racer WRX, the sport ride BRZ with its 2+2 layout, and also the family sedan Legacy. And the 2024 Impreza with newly designed appearance would join the lineup. Is it still promising as before?
The Updated New Impreza
The Impreza has existed for around three decades since Subaru introduced it to the North American market. And now, they are introducing the sixth gen Impreza with the 2024 model. The ride is coming as a hatchback (the five door type) with new tech, new look, and also new options for the powertrain. In terms of appearance, the company is confident enough by bringing back the rally inspired look from the 90s. That’s why they are also having the RS trim level for the new lineup. Each of the trim level would be coming as the all wheel driving system as standard and also CVT as the standard because manual is gone.
The debut took place during Los Angeles Motor Show, just like the company did back then in 1992. For the model, Subaru claimed that they want to highlight the nameplate’s capability and sportiness while reshuffling the trim level at the same time. The chassis would be stiffened up to 10% while adding up Active Torque Vectoring within the standard feature. As a result, expect the new Impreza to have punchier performance without sacrificing comfort. From the looks of it, everything seems promising and good.
New Design and Changes
Subaru would make the CVT standard in all Imprezas, and unfortunately, there hasn’t been any information whether they are going to offer manual transmission. Don’t hold on to your horses too tightly because there is a high chance that there won’t be any.
In terms of design, the new 2024 Subaru Impreza would definitely be designed as a five door hatch. For the design, it’s likely that the new model would take inspiration from the latest gen of Crosstrek and WRX. However, unlike those two models, the new Impreza won’t be coming with plastic cladding.
For the interior design, it’s highly likely that it shares similarities with the Crosstrek. It means that you can expect the new Starlink touchscreen display (11.6 inch in size), which would be standard for the Sport and RS trim level.
Trim Levels and Price
There would be 3 trim levels being offered, starting with the Base with estimated tag price of $22,000. The next one in line would be the Sport with the tag price of $25,000. And the last one would be the RS with a tag of $28,000. Keep in mind that these prices are only estimation as Subaru hasn’t officially released the real deal.
Powertrain and Performance
In terms of power, the Impreza will stay loyal to its flat four naturally aspirated unit with 2.0 liter capacity, which is still generating 152 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Another option would be the bigger four cylinder (boxer) unit with 2.5 liter capacity that is only offered for the RS model. It is able to generate 182 hp and 178 Nm of torque.
As it was mentioned before, the CVT would be the standard for all models, going along with Active Torque Vectoring that can support the company’s Symmetrical All Wheel Driving system. With increased stiffness, the new Impreza should be better ride, comfort, and handling. If you want to add up the sportiness appeal, Subaru has added the dual pinion electric (power) steering found version, which can be found in the WRX.
It’s highly likely that the new Impreza would start coming to dealerships in summer months of 2023. Hopefully, we can get more information about the 2024 Subaru Impreza before the actual launch date.
