2024 Chevy Chevelle Latest Update, Price and Release Date

2024 Chevy Chevelle – When listing some of the most iconic automobiles of the muscle car era, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS easily makes the top part of the list. The 70/SS was one of the best muscle cars, depending on who you ask.

Typically, the 70/SS Chevy was among the pioneers that changed how we look at automobiles, but the Chevelle nameplate has been gone for almost half a century.

Speculations were floating around that General Motors was set to resurrect the classic Chevrolet muscle car when in 2013, they renewed the Chevelle nameplate. Since then, the automaker has rebooted a handful of history models, but nothing on the Chevy muscle car. The reboot would come from elsewhere.

The good news is that Trans Am Worldwide is bringing the icon back as 2024 70/SS. But does it live up to the Chevelle badge?

Exterior

Trans Am borrows the styling cues of the 70/SS from the original 1970 model and blends it with a touch of modernity – the company has been working on this for several years. Designers used the foundation of the new sixth-gen Camaro and overhauled the exterior. The intention was to reshape the latest model to resemble the classic ’70 Chevelle Super Sport.

The designers have stretched the 2024 Chevelle rear and added a new bumper, deck lid, and quarter panels. Also, the back now has square tail lights. It has quad lights on a new front end and twin rectangular grills. But even with all the reskinning, the windshield remains unchanged.

Coupe fads can get the optional removable hard top. The modern-day 2024 Chevy Chevelle 70/SS comes in eight heritage colors, with pearl and metallic hues options. But you can as well pick your paint if you want to.

Additional options include custom graphics, brake upgrades, exposed carbon fiber, and wheel and tire packages.

Interior

Trans Am’s engineers have invested thousands of hours reimagining the 1970s muscle car on a modern platform. Tod Warmack, the Trans Am boss, says they pulled it off in a way that pays homage to one of the most notable icons of the muscle car era.

That means the redesign touches on the interior features as well.

While the interior of the Chevy 2024 Chevelle is characteristically Camaro, it adds a twist of retro-styled carpet and seats and nice touches of the 70/SS Hurst cue ball shift knob and badging.

Engine

If you’re going to resurrect a muscle car-era demon, you’d better match its performance to the 70s muscle car it was famed for. But does the new Chevy Chevelle 2024 even get close? We think so.

The new Chevy Chevelle 2024 earns top marks for power generated by all its three available power plants. The base version of 2024 Chevy Chevelle Horsepower is 450-horsepower LT1.

But more excitement can be had with installing the 396 cubic-inch LT, which generates 900 ponies’ power. Alternatively, you can go all in with the twin-turbo 454 cubic-inch LS6/X, making an impressive 1,500 horsepower.

All the Chevelle 2024 engines are mated with either a manual or auto transmission, and suspension upgrades are available. All versions are rear-wheel-drive.

2024 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Price and Release Date

Those who want to own the resurrected 70/SS will have to hurry. There are only 25 of the LS6/X engine package Chevelle.

So how much is the new Chevy Chevelle?, what so far is that the price of the 450 hp 6.2-liter V8 2024 Chevrolet Chevelle SS price starts at $150,000.

Trans Am Worldwide doesn’t own the rights to the Chevelle trademark and will not be using it for their new car. But still, Chevrolet will need to renew the trademark next year if they still need to use it for their expected new Camaro electric versions (still unclear).

  1. Nice. But, apparently, they’re not even interested in selling car; just showing it. The asking price of $150,000 is not only stupid money but they’ve managed to insult the very generation that made it so popular by even asking so damn much. Only the elite will afford it and it’s obvious Chevrolet don’t give a damn about the rest of us. I say back to them, KMA!

  2. I own a 1970 Chevelle Malibu SS. Got it when we were both 15. I love that car. I still have it. I would definitely buy a 2024 if I had the money. However, 150k is NOT in my bank account especially for a car that I do not particularly NEED. I agree Daniel, the price tag is insane and an insult to those of us who love that 1970 Chevelle Malibu. I was excited to see the pictures of the new design! I recognized MY Malibu in that car for the first time in years. My muscle car became a sedan (why???) and was finally back to being the amazing muscle car it is. But sadly, as you said, Chevrolet does not care about those that made that car the muscle car that made muscle cars, those of us who own them and drive them and love them. Those of us who are excited that it is BACK as a muscle car. They only care about those with pockets so deep they only want to own it because they want to put it in a garage with tons of other $$$$$ cars they do not drive. They only want it because it is one of only 25 being made. Shame on Chevrolet.

    • It’s great to hear that you are a proud owner of a 1970 Chevelle Malibu SS, and it’s fantastic that you have held onto it all these years. I can definitely understand your frustration with the high price tag of the 2024 model, as it’s not within everyone’s budget. However, it’s important to keep in mind that cars have evolved a lot since the 1970s, and the new model may have features and technology that you may find useful and enjoyable.

  3. Thats amazing! I thought I was only 1 that had a badass Chevelle when I was 15! Dad actually bought it for me when I was 14, It was 1971 Chevelle Malibu. Guy had it b4 me had put a 400 small block in it & had interior all custom done. Pretty sure the front bench seat was from a Monte Carlo! lol My dad said Monte Carlo seat was bigger, idk if he was right or not honestly. It been painted with imron paint, it was BEAUTIFUL Choc brown with lil blue, gold & silver flake, looked so good with the bright white vinyl roof. It also had a small chrome strip across like rocker panel, I think they look better with it. Not keeping her is 1 my biggest regrets,Im 53 & still havent gotten over her! Even worse my ex wife burned EVERY pic that I ever had.
