The upcoming 2025 Toyota Corolla has been designed (and planned) to come as the 13th generation model, but its existence and debut are still far away. The future model is claimed to come as a hybrid model, and it will still maintain the sedan lineup. There have been several rendering images of the new Corolla with upscale design, just to give us ideas of what to expect from the iconic sedan.
About the Corolla
In case you don’t know it, the Corolla has been known as this best-selling (and also one of the most popular) nameplate in the industry. Since 1966, the car has been reaching 50 millions of sold units all over the world, making it one of the top notch and popular rides in the industry. That’s why the company views this model as one of their most important models, paying attention to each new generation creation, development, and manufacture. The current model is the 12th gen, but the company has been planning on the latest updates for the upcoming generation.
Design and Style
From the imagined design, the new model is still coming with sedan platform and four-door layout, so there won’t be any hatchback design with a give door layout anymore. It seems that the designer gets inspiration from the Crown, because there are combined parts of Crown crossover and the SUV concept. When those combined parts are somewhat jammed into Corolla’s company body, the result isn’t so bad either.
In fact, when compared to the current model, the (imaginary) 13th generation sedan somewhat looks more stylish and premium. With stretched wheelbase, sleeker surface, fuller width lighting unit, and somewhat steeper (raked) windshield, the entire design and style are visually appealing. The silhouette of the ride is somewhat more aerodynamics, but when compared to the new Prius, it’s not that much. It’s not a bad thing because you can actually differentiate both models.
If we take a look at the front end of the imagined Corolla, it shares similarities to the bZ models, but it’s likely that it’s coming with combustion unit because of the big intakes. On the back, the improvements are also happening on the ‘tail’. It looks better than the current model because of the (more) dynamic lines and also slimmer LED lights. Because we still don’t know about the model, it’s hard to pinpoint what to expect next from the line.
Powertrain and Performance
Again, information is scarce and limited, but rumor has it that the new 2025 Toyota Corolla would be coming with hybrid powertrain, focusing on the efficiency factor. Will Toyota also offer the combustion engine version? It’s unclear. Will they also offer pure electric model? It’s not really a confirmed decision, but it’s not likely that pure electric would be coming.
There is a possibility of TNGA architecture for the new model, paired with petrol naturally aspirated four cylinder unit with 2.0 liter capacity and also electric-petrol hybrid unit with 1.8 liter capacity. The previous one is able to generate 125 kW and 202 Nm of torque while the latter is 103 kW. If you want the hatchback, there would be GR Corolla that is running on four cylinder turbo petrol unit with 1.6 liter capacity that delivers 221 kW and 370 Nm of torque. Hopefully, this variant would be offered within the lineup.
Price and Release Date
Price factor is still unknown, and so is the release date. But considering that the current Corolla just got a facelift last year, it’s possible that the new gen will debut in at least a year from now – or even two years. There is a possibility that the 2025 Toyota Corolla would be coming by the end of 2024, or even the early of 2025 at the latest.
