What to expect from the new 2025 Mazda Miata? The fifth generation Miata seems to keep the natural character which is fun to drive, but add up more enhanced performance to make it better. It seems that Mazda has developed their own planning when it comes to developing the new Miata although they aren’t ready to reveal it now.
About the Miata
This nameplate has existed for decades, and there is a good reason why it happens. The MX5 Miata has been around from 1989, and its existence has proven that people can still have fun with cool driving experience even without a sporty vehicle that can generate more than 600 hp. This car may not be everyone’s favorite, but its value has shown impressive quality, packing great features along the way.
The current gen is around 8 years old, and yet, it still feels nice. You can’t even tell that it’s outdated because it doesn’t feel like one. But if you want a refreshment, you may be happy to know that a disguised prototype has been spotted driving around Germany, which means that the new updated version should be expected. It’s most likely that Mazda will still maintain the core design that makes this car special.
A Facelift New MX5?
Is the new 2025 Mazda Miata will experience a facelift? Mazda has their own timeline when they want to refresh their line – which they do once in a decade. It’s not really surprising if the company is preparing their fifth gen Miata in 2024.
When spotted, the prototype may not seem to have any different design. When it comes to visual appearance, the prototype may not have any drastic change. However, you should look closer, and you will notice some significant improvements. The rear fenders are wider, meaning that the upcoming MX5 would have wider rear track. A wider (rear) track should affect road grip and cornering stability. When road grip increases, cornering stability will improve.
However, from the look of the prototype, the rear and front fascia seem to be identical to the design language of existing model, and it covers dual exhaust tailpipes, rear taillights, and also LED headlights. But then again, some auto fans and enthusiasts state that it’s possible that the prototype mule is wearing the current body as a camouflage.
Powertrain and Performance
Miata has a solid reputation as this fun two door and compact sports car that is super whimsical to maneuver. The spotted prototype is the soft top convertible. There is no information about the powertrain, but the current model is running on four pot unit with 2.0 liter capacity that can generate 181 hp and 151 Nm of torque. According to reports, Miata having manual gearbox is able to cover 60 mph within 5.7 second. This is pretty impressive.
It’s most likely that there would be a hybrid powertrain along the way. It’s possible that there would be a mild hybrid version that is offered as an optional pick or even a turbocharged layout for better fuel efficiency. We should know more once more details have been released.
Release Date and Price
There is no information about the price range, which is basically understandable because the prototype has just been spotted. And considering that this is the NE’s first appearance on public, we still don’t know much about the powertrain and the design. It also means that the release date and price would be unclear either.
Many auto enthusiasts and experts, however, believe that the new gen of MX5 would be coming in 2024, without the exact date. Unfortunately, details would be revealed close to the launch date. It means that we need to wait for around a year, at least, to finally get the details of 2025 Mazda Miata.
