What We Think
The 2025 Ranger Raptor excels in off-road conditions with a powerful engine and performance upgrades that set it apart from the standard Ranger. It handles sandy trails and rocky terrain with ease and offers decent on-road comfort. However, its interior has some ergonomic quirks, like small grab handles and no stabilization ledges near the touchscreen. Additional armor could be beneficial, but these minor issues don’t detract from its thrilling off-road experience.
Engine Performance
Under the hood, the Ranger Raptor features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, generating 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, achieving 0-60 mph in under 6 seconds. The engine’s anti-lag technology keeps the turbo spooled for up to three seconds after lifting off the gas. Fuel economy is a modest 16/18 mpg city/highway.
Off-Road Hardware
The Raptor’s off-road prowess is supported by a reinforced frame and electronically controlled Fox Live Valve shocks. It rides on 33-inch BFGoodrich KO3 tires and features underbody steel plates for protection. Optional 17-inch beadlock wheels are available.
