What would be the 2025 Chevy Colorado look like? Well, if the latest rendering images are showing any indication of the possible design, it’s safe to say that Chevrolet and their Colorado have possibly good future. Rumor has it that the upcoming Colorado would be running on electric powertrain, which means that we can expect updated appearance, improved performance, and punchy quality. Not to mention that we can also be hopeful about better comfort and driving control of the Colorado, despite its reputation as this solid and ‘badass’ pickup truck. So, what can we expect from this new truck line?
The Possible Updated Version
If you have been tuning into the auto update recently, you’d known that there are some 2025 Chevy Colorado (CGI) rendering images, showing all new redesign outcome that looks similar to the Silverado RS, only smaller. GM needs to be quick and responsive when it comes to truck segment rivalry, especially when they have to think about the new gen of Ford Range and Toyota Tacoma’s threat. That’s why the auto maker provides new planning and strategies, especially for their GMC and Chevy models like the Canyon and Colorado.
The Tough Competition
Both Canyon and Colorado are constructed with the same platform that the company has used for several years past. But General Motors are ‘desperate’ enough to mitigate the effect of new Ranger and Tacoma that they decide to use a new platform, known as the GMT 31XX-2. This platform accommodates not only new structure, but also new powertrain. With a single engine layout of inline four turbo unit with 2.7 liter capacity that can deliver 237 hp, the truck is said to have promising performance, especially when paired up with 8 speed transmission.
The company wants to do bigger updates and changes, but they need to consider the increased price tag, especially when compared to the current model. They need to remember that not everyone would be able to afford it, so they need to be extremely careful when it comes to setting up the price range.
(Possible) Design and Styling
GM works together with Ben Wilkins to create their (possible) future truck sketches. It’s a clear sign that the company is paying homage to their Chevy C/K trucks (the third gen) launched back then in 1973. Somehow, Wilkins is able to create such a familiar lines and shapes, reminding us of the new Colorado 2023 model year.
And let’s not forget that this new truck would be running on electric, which means that we are looking as the upcoming EV model, disguised as the smaller Silverado EV model. So far, the company doesn’t have any special scheme of naming their electric lines. They simply add EV to their already existing nameplate, such as Equinox EV, Blazer EV, and such a thing. So, we can expect Colorado EV to be offered soon enough.
As it was mentioned earlier, GM needs to be serious if they want to compete against other top notch brands, such as Toyota and Ford. Ford has stated that their Ranger EV is on its way, along with GM focusing on their compact (EV) pickup truck. Toyota is also busy working on their electric variant too. Many auto enthusiasts are pretty hopeful and optimistic that the new Colorado truck would be better. If it’s truly coming as a new compact design, having somewhat modern-retro 70s design, it may make it even better. If the auto maker can be smart about it, having a comfortable, more affordable, and smaller truck with Ultium based technology sounds like a very good deal.
We still don’t know much about the upcoming 2025 Chevy Colorado, but if the real deal is as good as the rendering images, Chevy and their Colorado definitely have such a bright future!
