The upcoming 2024 BMW M4 is said to undergo some refreshed touchups. There have been several sources stating that the 2025 4 Series model, along with the coupe M440i is spied undergoing some testing stage. During those testing period, it seems that the prototypes would be coming with fresh (and brand new looking) LEDs.
The Updated Plan
There have been some images on the net showing the coupes are going through the testing stage. They are some camos that are covering some styling updates, but it’s obvious that the massive grille still exists there.
Let’s not forget that June 2020 was the witness of our first moment spotting the huge (and notorious) grille existing on the second gen 4 Series. There is nothing much that Beemer can do because they are already focusing on the mid lifecycle updates. There have been some camo prototypes (three of them) spotted by the spy photographers. But these prototypes have different specs, providing some hints that there are subtle changes happening to them.
The Design and Appearance
These 3 prototypes are basically the G22 Coupe (the two door type) having LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) updates. The one in silver comes with M Sport Package, while the remaining two are possibly the M440i types. Rumor has it that Beemer may stop making the (standard) bodykit from the 4 Series, which means that they would use M Sport bumpers for all of the trims.
On the front area, you will see the sporty bumper intakes along with the (uncovered) grille, which is basically almost the same as the current model. This is almost the same to M440i although it’s highly possible that the covered grille may hide some transformations and changes. All of these prototypes are showing the redesigned (LED) graphics for the headlights. It’s inspired from the DRLs (from the facelifted X5 or X6) with its boomerang style.
It’s possible that the entire profile will remain covered because the company may ‘only’ have some new color options. The 4 Series model got minor updates in their 2023 model, so it’s highly possible that their upcoming 2025 will be a carryover style. The same thing also happens to the interior so don’t expect any drastic updates.
Powertrain and Performance
There is no information about the possible powertrain options for the 2025 BMW M4, but it’s a sure thing that electrification would be included in the manufacturing plan. Some people predict that it’s possible the 2025 model of M4 would be a carryover from the 2023. After all, given the refreshed work from the 2023, it’s pretty logical if the company wants to ‘continue’ using the same arrangement.
M4 is really into the inline six twin turbocharged unit that has 3.0 liter of capacity, which can deliver different outputs. The standard one would be 473 hp and 406 Nm of torque, paired with manual 6 speed transmission and rear wheel driving system. The second option would be able to generate 503 hp and 479 Nm of torque with auto 8 speed transmission. And then the final one is able to generate 543 hp with rear wheel driving system and auto 8 speed transmission. Again, this is only a prediction, so don’t get your horses high just yet. We still need to wait for official confirmation from the company.
Final Words
The new facelifted 4 Series should start within the early 2024, meaning that the second gen would be around 4 years old. There is a possibility that the Cabriolet (or G23) and Gran Coupe (G24) would also get the updates, besides the Coupe variant (the G22). It’s best to just wait and see for further official updates about 2025 BMW M4.
