There have been several spy shot images of 2024 Porsche Boxster on the net, showing off the vehicle undergoing the testing stage at Nurburgring. From the prototype vehicle design, it seems that Porsche is testing out the Spyder RS model, and its design style has been inspired from Cayman GT4 RS. The Boxster is still undergoing the development stage, which means that there is always a possibility of change along the way until the final model (for production) has been set.
About the Future Boxster
The spy images have seen the (suspected) Boxster Spyder RS going through the testing stage with some of the design being covered with a camo and some of the designs are left open. Although the Spyder has been one of the most favorable versions of the 718, the upcoming 2024 Porsche Boxster is likely coming tweaking the RS design into the extreme end. From the looks of it, the high performance roadster may look constructed as the standard model, but it adopts some unique features, such as the (lightweight) center locking wheels being supported by the braking system that is quite beefy.
This isn’t the one and only transformation. If you take a closer look at the prototype, you will see that there are two (extra) intakes located right behind the side-located windows. It seems that Porsche is also tweaking with the soft top, although it’s unclear whether the change would be permanent or will it only apply for the prototype.
Powertrain and Performance
The company doesn’t say much about their upcoming model, but it seems that the 718 Cayman GT4 RS has inspired the overall design for the new Boxster. The inspiration also applies to the powertrain. The Boxster would likely run on flat six naturally aspirated unit with 4.0 liter capacity, delivering 492 hp and 331 Nm of torque. This powertrain would be paired together with PDK 7 speed transmission and rear wheel driving system. The power is sent to the rear wheel through (mechanically) locking rear differentia. Thanks to this setup, the coupe is able to reach 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds with top speed reaching 196 mph.
