2024 Audi Q7 and Future Plug in Hybrid Power

The launch of 2024 Audi Q7 is meant to be a part of the company’s global pure electric launch, which will start in 2026. The current Q7 is now within the second gen. The first gen was launched in 2005, running for 10 years before the next gen started. Audi is hopeful that the second gen will also last for another decade. It also means that the company plans on revealing the third gen of Q7, which also means that it would be the last one with combustion power.

Plug in Hybrid Power

For the upcoming 2024 Audi Q7, they are expecting electrification power. The plug in hybrid system would make it possible for the Q5 to cover 50 miles of distance. Audi also needs to figure out their powertrain arrangement, considering that European’s Euro 7 (emission) norms are getting stricter. Rather than focusing on the V8 unit Euro 7, the company wants to focus on the V6 unit paired up with improved electric torque and power. According to Markus Duesmann, the company’s CEO, they are hoping to make a blast with their last combustion unit before switching to electrification. The basic and mid range variants may come with inline four and V6 units with 48V mild hybrid system.

Design and Layout

Although Audi hasn’t provided conclusive designs and confirmation about the 2024 Audi Q7, some rendering images have been available, made by an illustrator, Lars Saltzer. From the images, we can see that the Q4 e-tron would borrow its styling cues. The Q7 would have sharper and slimmer headlamps to accompany the octagonal and wider singleframe. The bumper would be bolder and edgier with tall (side) air inlets. When compared to the current Q7, the new Q7 looks different (and it happens in a good way).

Release Date

There have been conflicting confirmations about the release of Q7. Some say that it should be debuted sometime in 2023, but other say that it would be released in 2025. It’s because the company believes that the current plug in hybrid Q7 isn’t exactly suitable for the US market. Up until now, there hasn’t been any clear confirmation of when the Q7 would be available for the public so we need to wait.

Electrification Strategy

Audi has prepared around €18 billion for the electrification projects taking place from 2022 to 2026. In 2021 alone, around 10% of the annual sales are resulted from hybrid powertrain or pure electric. Before 2025, Audi plans on expanding its EV lineups to 20 models. In 2026, all of the company’s new models (for global market) would be EVs.

Q and A

Q: Is the Q5 important?

Q: How much would the Q7 be sold?

A: The price will likely be set from $60,000 to $65,000, respectively

Q: What are the main rivals of the Q7?

A: They are Lexus RX, Mercy GLE, and Beemer X5.

Considering that Audi hasn’t said much about their Q7, it’s better that we wait for their official announcement of 2024 Audi Q7.
